Weather

This is the time of year I really hate. It's cold. It's moist. It's dead. Now that I'm finally getting the energy to get going on this new adventure, nothing will grow. Jeremy helped me put some row covers on the lettuce and onions, but they still aren't doing well. I would give a million dollars to have a couple acres in California. I've been passing the time reading as much as I can about homesteading, trying to get ideas on what to do with the tiny space I've been given. London and Zoƫ are as excited as I am to 'go get grubby' asap.

The Chickens are growing fast, and we're really looking forward to egg season. The amount of eggs we go through here is a crime, I'm sure. We had a bit of a scare tonight when we went to shut the birds in for the night. Jeremy had absentmindedly shut their pen before he went to work, so when they wanted to come home to roost they were locked out. Two of them (Ginger and TBO) had flown over the fence to the coop. Noodle got stuck on the chain-link, and Jeremy had to free her. Where were the other two? They made a nest under an old sheet to stay warm. It was very cute, but I felt sad for the little wretches. They didn't even run from me when I picked them up. I guess they were grateful to get back to their warm palace.
