A few weeks ago we adopted some chicks from a friend, and we've acquired a few more too, bringing the grand total to five hens and one rooster. Jeremy (I don't do that DH crap, he's not a secret) and a friend of ours threw together a coop out of pallets, and it's doing the job nicely. All in all I'd say I'm excited about taking the next step toward building our little homestead. Yay us!

 The Rooster(Nugget) is going to have to go now that he's crowing. I just found out it is a $500 fine to keep him in the city limits. Right now the bastard is in a pen in my living room crowing almost constantly. Though I've posted him for free on Craigslist, I'm giving him until Friday. I've had one inquiry about him, but the guy wanted one of my hens as well. Since when is it okay to barter for MORE than what is posted? After that someone flagged my post. Some people trolls are lame.
